This weekend’s FIP Silver R3 Bullpadel Cup in Stratford will be the last competitive tune-up for the Great Britain team heading to Cadiz next week for the FIP Euro Padel Cup.
The R3 Bullpadel Cup is the second FIP Silver-level padel event held on British soil following the FIP tournament at Rocket Padel Bristol in April. It is again set to attract top national and international players.
On the women’s side, 19 Brits are set to contest the title with British No.1 Aimee Gibson leading the charge, partnering Portugal’s Catarina Santos.
GB no.2 Catherine Rose will join up with Tia Norton and Lisa Phillips plays alongside Portugal’s Bruna Albuquerque Melo.
Other competitors this weekend also in the GB team flying to La Linea de la Concepcion next Saturday for the Final 8 of the FIP Euro Padel Cup include 15-year-old Rosie Quirk, Abigail Tordoff and Hanna Maddock.
Christian Medina Murphy will lead the British charge in the men’s draw. Alex Loughlan, Louie Harris, Tom Farquharson and Sam Jones complete the players already confirmed for the main draw.
Fellow Team GB members Alfonso Patacho, Jamie Lobo, Nikhil Mohindra will begin their Stratford campaign in qualifying.
Stratford is one of four FIP Tour events in Great Britain this year as part of the LTA Padel Performance Competitions Calendar to offer British players the chance to earn both prize money and valuable ranking points.
In addition to the pro event, the weekend will also see Stratford host a FIP Promises tournament for junior players – giving young talent the chance to compete at an international level on home turf.
Qualifying for the FIP Silver event in Stratford started on Tuesday 7 October, with the main draw action getting underway from Friday 10 October. The tournament will conclude on Sunday 12 October.
