Is padel the new golf? That’s the whisper in upper floors of the financial, real estate and tech skyscrapers as deals are cut on the 20×10 rather than the 19th hole.

It’s not too much of a stretch to say that with its accessibility, quick game time (compared to 18 holes!) and social nature, padel is rapidly replacing golf as the new sport of choice for corporates, whether they be financiers, insurance brokers, real estate moguls, FinTech professionals or from any other sector.

The ‘city industries’ are turning to padel as the new sport of choice through which to build their professional networks and get business done.

Into this shifting landscape has stepped Ben Nichols and Rohit Grewal, co-founders of Property+Padel, who are launching the UK’s first Corporate Padel Cup, staged right in the heart of the City at Padium, Canary Wharf, on 18 September.

“The event will see some of the sharpest minds in the City thrash it out in this high-stakes, competitive tournament. We’re excited at what this means for the sport and the world of business,” Nichols told The Padel Paper.

Company team entry is priced at £500 per pair and includes tournament participation, guest passes, complimentary food and drink, company branding, and access to the evening social. General admission tickets are available for £50 per person, with access from 12 PM onwards.

The event will feature:
· 16 selected companies
· One pair (2 players) per team
· Group stages and knockout rounds from 12 PM to 5 PM
· Evening social with drinks, food, music, and networking from 5 PM to 8 PM
· Grand prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, including a padel retreat abroad for the champions

Property+Padel co-founder Grewal said: “Following our announcement of the UK’s first ever Corporate Padel Cup, we’re excited to confirm that tickets are now live for this hotly-anticipated City event which, in line with padel’s brand as a modern, sport-for-all, is open to companies from across the business spectrum.

Property+Padel

“Since launching Property+Padel in the UK last October, and following two high-impact events in the United States, we’ve regularly been asked to create a tournament for the UK’s corporate sector. Well, here it is – staged at Padium, the true symbol of London’s corporate padel scene.

“The Cup is a natural extension of our platform. Padel has proven itself as the ultimate modern-day business sport – social, fast-paced, and inclusive. Who has time for 18 holes of golf anymore? This event marks the start of a new era in corporate sport. We call it: Padel is the new Golf.”

The Corporate Padel Cup builds on the momentum of Property+Padel’s Summer Social on 24 June at Rocket Padel Battersea, headlined by Savills, and supported by HartDixon, Blackstar Real Estate, and Playtomic. These partnerships highlight the strong and growing network of industry leaders engaging with the platform.

Property+Padel will also return later this year for its UK flagship summit in November, with full details to be announced soon.

Since debuting in October 2024, Property+Padel has hosted sold-out events in London, New Jersey, and Miami, connecting professionals from real estate, finance, investment, law, tech, hospitality and sport business.
